Starting/stopping the workshop
To Start - Click the navigation strobe light when it's red
To Stop - Click the navigation strobe light when it's green
NOTE: The navigation strobe gets hidden by the helicopter option
slide. To move either slide back into it's parked position, click
the little orange triangle at the slide edge.
To begin building a transporter
Click the Go! button. This presents a bare frame and a
brief description of the transporter features.
To start over
Click the Go! button. This clears your choices
and resets everything to zero.
Choosing options
Click the "Select Options" button. This activates a slide with
a list of options. Click on the small yellow round buttons
to the left of each option. This causes a second slide on the
skids to deploy. The skids show pictures of the options for
that category. The pictures are actually buttons. To select an option,
click the picture on the button. The
option will appear on the transporter frame and the build sheet will
register your choice by a green checkmark.
To set the sound volume
On the radar screen - Use your mouse to drag the slider left or right.
On the helicopter - Click the button labeled "Sound Volume". This opens
the tail rotor cover. Use your mouse to drag the slider left or right.
To close the tail cover, click the button labeled "Sound Volume" again.
NOTE: To turn all sounds off, move the slider to the exteme left position.
I don't hear any sounds. What's wrong?
1. Your computer may not have a sound card.
2. When you load the Workshop the first time, the sounds may not play
since the sound files are loaded last. Eventually, the sound files
arrive at your PC and should play. You may need to wait a minute or
so and restart the workshop to hear the sounds. This should only
be true for the very first load of the Workshop.
3. You have your volume set too low on your PC. You can set the volume
for all sounds on your PC. On Windows machines click on Start and then
click the "Help" menu item. On the resulting help window, click the
index tab and type in the word "volume". You should get a description
on how to change the volume on your particular version of Windows.
4. Are your speakers turned on and is the volume control turned up?
NOTE: To turn all sounds off, move the slider to the exteme left position.
What do the little yellow cameras do?
Clicking on the little yellow cameras should bring up a small window
containing an enlarged version of the picture shown in the options button
adjacent to it.
NOTE: This will not work Netscape browsers as they do not support
popping up windows through Flash 5.0.
Options combinations notes
- If you choose the hydraulic drive, then 6 mag wheels, the control box and 10 feet of
cable are automatically added for you.
These are required options for the hydraulic drive (you can change cable lengths). If you have chosen a power unit before
selecting the hydraulic drive, the power unit is automatically upgraded to the extended duty
version that corresponds to the motor voltage you originally selected. That is, if you selected
the 12V standard duty power unit, you are upgraded to 12V Extended duty. If you chose 28V standard
duty, you are automatically upgraded to 28V Extended duty. The hydraulic drive option requires
an extended duty type motor. Therefore, when you choose the hydraulic drive option, required
upgrades are automatically added for you.
- Tow bars cannot be used with hydraulic steering. You can toggle between tow bars and hydraulic
steering if one or the other has been previously selected.
- Radio control cannot be used with Control box and cable. You can toggle between Radio Control
and Control box cable if one or the other has been previously selected. Either requires the
hydraulic drive option.
- The 3 and 4, 675 amp battery option cannot be used with tow bars due to interference issues.
- You cannot get hydraulic steering without selecting the hydraulic drive.
- If you get a ball hitch or tug ring tow bar with hydraulic drive, and you intend to use a tug
to tow the transporter, you must disconnect the hydraulic drive as it has considerable resistance
and acts as a brake.
